Frugal Coyote Thrift Store Continues Support for Borrego Springs Children’s Center

The Borrego Valley Endowment Fund (BVEF) announces a $20,000 donation to the Borrego Springs Children’s Center, which operates under the non-profit umbrella of the Borrego Springs Youth and Seniors Center.

This contribution marks the third consecutive year BVEF has provided this level of support, thanks to proceeds from the Frugal Coyote Thrift Store. The store was generously donated to BVEF in January 2023 by longtime community supporters Anne and Jim Wermers. BVEF extends its gratitude to everyone who has donated merchandise or made purchases at the Frugal Coyote—your support makes an impact in our community.

“The Frugal Coyote has a long history of supporting the Children’s Center,” said David Garmon, BVEF President. “We are proud to continue that tradition and support an organization that is essential to so many hard working families in our community.”

Daniel Wright, Executive Director of the Borrego Springs Youth and Seniors Center, added: “Our community owes BVEF a huge debt of gratitude for their ongoing support of working families. The Children’s Center is the only licensed daycare and preschool in Borrego Springs, and BVEF’s support is vital.”

About the Borrego Valley Endowment Fund

Founded in 1994, BVEF is a public benefit corporation committed to fostering philanthropy in Borrego Springs and surrounding areas. Today, it manages a multi-million-dollar portfolio to strengthen the well-being of the Borrego Valley and its residents.

Since 2015, BVEF has expanded its mission beyond healthcare to become a true community foundation. It supports local nonprofits in launching initiatives and programs that sustain Borrego Springs, protect the environment, and care for vulnerable seniors and youth.

“We’re excited to continue the Frugal Coyote’s charitable mission and expand its role to meet critical needs for seniors, youth, and local residents,” said Garmon. “Its ongoing success is thanks to a dedicated, knowledgeable team, led by longtime manager Ann Jastrock and supported by invaluable sales associates Laura Alcaraz and Jazmine Padilla.”
